Wright State University is located in Fairborn, Ohio, (a suburb of Dayton), but lists its address as Dayton. It has participated in the ten member Horizon League since 1994. Its mascot is the Raiders. Named after the world-famous Wright brothers, who had their bicycle shop in Fairborn, Wright State University continues their spirit of innovation. The university serves nearly 17,000 students, offering more than 100 undergraduate and 50 Ph.D., graduate, and professional degrees.

The Wright State men's basketball team has seen the national spotlight several times since the program moved to Division I in 1987-88 and into the new Nutter Center in 1990. In 1993, the Raiders qualified for the NCAA Tournament, and since then Wright State is 4-0 all-time at home vs Top 25 competition. In 1995, Wright State defeated #25 Xavier, 71-70, their first ever home win over a Top 25 opponent. In the 1999-2000 season, Wright State beat #8 Michigan State at the Nutter Center, 53-49. On February 10th, 2007 Wright State welcomed their Horizon League rival and ninth-ranked Butler Bulldogs to Dayton. In an impressive showing that would lead the Raiders to be named ESPN.com's "Team of the Week", Wright State dominated #9 Butler 77-65. [1] The 2007 season culminated with yet another defeat of the Top 25 ranked Butler Bulldogs, 60-55, as the Raiders won the Horizon League tournament championship on their home court to secure their second-ever NCAA Tournament bid. Todd Brown and Wright State defeat 17th-ranked Butler, 60-55, in front of a sold-out Nutter Center crowd of 10,686 on Mar. 6th, 2007. The win gave the Raiders their first NCAA Tournament bid since 1993.
